What makes this release a definite must-have is the same reason why you visit festivals with sounds, music and sound-art. Even if you don’t know all this artists or there is a track you maybe don’t like at the beginning, it fits the release as a whole. Exploration of artistic depths and differences, very well combined by ‘His Masters Drone’, Stefan Knappe.
Various – Minority
“Minority” introduced the Minor label, operating on the fault lines between abstract electronica and experimental ambient textures. Some tracks sound like the artists playing with plug-ins and leaving the tracks unfinished, but there are many interesting and unexpected things from obscure artists, all new to me. Some are perhaps defunct but several are worth investigating.
Various – Le Triomphe Dans L’Endroit De La Duperie
I guess it’s a must to visit this exhibition if you’re in Italy, and as long as you’re there just get this catalogue as a souvenir from your trip. For people who like the long, droney ambient pieces with transcending effects and analog experimentations, as well as loopy madness.
Various – Thalamus III
“Thalamus III” documents Russian post-industrial/noise artists alongside less classifiable work, mostly lo-fi, abrasive soundscapes. It is an uneven but important compilation and, provided you can endure the generally desolate tone, there are some really interesting pieces to be discovered.
