Moljebka Pvlse – Lode Lvx

Moljebka Pvlse - Lode Lvx

7″ Vinyl, Drone Records, 2008

Most of the time Drone records from Germany – run by the master of drones, Stefan Knappe of Troum – invests in lesser known names or artists who haven’t had many releases thus far. So it was a big surprise to see the name Moljebka Pvlse in Drone Records’ latest list of releases.
The minimal design of the black-on-black cover fits the black vinyl very well. And what is most important, it is also in sync with the dark soundscapes that can be found on the release.
Organic sounds form the basis of the two tracks called “Lode” and “Lvx.” The compositions, with drones and additional good sounding, albeit heavily manipulated, bell, metal and gong sounds, create a harmonic and mysterious whole. The only so-called disadvantage could be that both tracks are only just over five minutes, which makes it quite a short release. But thankfully there is no law that forbids standing up and playing it again and again.

[7.5/10]
